Blemishes

Redness is a very common indication that is experienced by many people at some time in their life, potentially causing psychological and self-confidence issues. These, in turn, can affect social and professional interactions, leading to a more isolated lifestyle.

Primarily, people will experience redness in the facial area – particularly around the nose, the cheeks, and the chin. This can be caused by a number of conditions, including congenital or age-related issues, as well as environmental factors such as over-exposure to sunlight.

Uneven Skintone

An even, healthy-looking skin tone is a critical component of beauty. And if you’re unhappy with your skin tone, you’re probably struggling with feeling good about how you look. There are many reasons your skin tone may be uneven, from sun damage to freckles to conditions such as melasma. LaseMD can help even out and brighten skin that’s unevenly pigmented due to any of these issues.

Melasma

Melasma often affects pregnant women. Although it can affect anyone, it is particularly common in women, especially those who are taking hormone replacement therapy medications or contraceptives. Melasma is thought to form by the stimulation of melanocytes by the female hormones oestrogen and progesterone.

Sun Damage

Sun Damage can lead to age spots caused by regular exposure to the UV rays of the sun. These spots are often found on skin that are often exposed to the sun such as the face, arms, hands, and neck. They often seen as small, darkened patches on the skin.

What is LaseMD?

LaseMD is a laser skin resurfacing treatment that can stimulate the body’s natural collagen and elastin production to provide healthier, younger-looking skin. This is achieved through non-ablative laser energy, which gently heats targeted tissue in the deeper layers of the skin while leaving the surface layer intact, typically resulting in little to no downtime when compared to the full ablative lasers of the past. LaseMD is considered effective for all skin types, with the magnitude of treatment tailored to the severity of one’s skin concerns. Patients often complete a LaseMD session during their lunch break and can resume normal activities immediately for a simple, yet powerful, way to repair sun-damaged skin, reduce fine lines and renew a dull or uneven complexion.

What areas can be treated with LaseMD?

LaseMD can be safely used on any area of the body where you have fine lines and sun damage. The most common area of treatment is, of course, the face, followed by the neck, chest, arms, hands, and shoulders. At RESTOR we like to talk about the “tabletop” presentation. We want all of the skin that is visible when we are sitting at a table to have a unified lusterous and glowing appearance – so what we do to our faces, we should also be doing to our necks, decollette, and hands (as this skin tends to need less – a good rule of thumb is for every four treatments you do on your face, you should do one on your “tabletop”. The Tabletop’s evil twin? Floating Head Syndrome (where the face appears 20 years younger than the neck). Don’t let it happen to you!

Who is a candidate for LaseMD?

LaseMD is appropriate for anyone with sun damage, fine lines, melasma, or anyone looking for a brighter skin tone and improved texture.  LaseMD is safe for all skin types and colors, and can be uused when you skin is tanned as well.

What does a LaseMD Treatment feel like?

As the laser passes over your skin, a feeling of warm tingling is common. The intensity of this sensation varies based on the type of treatment being performed – but most people do not require numbing cream or any type of pain control. After the session is complete, it is normal for the face to feel hot for 4-6 hours.

How many LaseMD Treatments will I need?

The number of treatments needed in order to achieve optimal results can vary from patient to patient depending on the condition or conditions being treated, the patient’s goals for treatment and tolerance of downtime. During your first consultation, a member of our team will review your desired results, skin type, and primary skin concerns and will help create a customized treatment plan for you that will help you achieve your optimal results.

How does the LaseMD work?

By understanding collagen and how it works, we can slow the ageing process and keep you looking younger for longer. The skin is the largest organ of the body and is made up of 3 key layers – the epidermis, the dermis and the subcutaneous layer.

EPIDERMIS

The epidermis is the outermost layer of skin and is the part you can see. It provides a waterproof barrier which is made up of layers of skin cells. When we are young, the life cycle of a new skin cell is approximately 28 days. As we age this process slows down dramatically, leading to a dull and dry appearing skin.

DERMIS

The dermis is where our collagen and elastin live. These fibres give support, flexibility and strength to the skin which in turn gives us our smooth and youthful appearance. From age 25, our production of collagen naturally depletes, causing it to show visible signs of ageing such as sagging, lines, and wrinkles.

SUBCUTANEOUS LAYER

Finally, our subcutaneous fat layer provides insulation and padding. As we get older, our fat pads thin and fall with gravity and we lose facial volume, again adding to an aged look.

LaseMD works by stimulating collagen production by delivering just the right amount of energy to the right depth within the skin. This energy triggers a natural response within the skin, jumpstarting the regenerative process producing new collagen. The laser creates microscopic channels within the skin which help damaged tissue and unwanted pigment to be removed creating a more even tone and texture. The microscopic channels also act as a pathway for enhanced delivery of vitamins and antioxidants directly to the site they are needed to nourish, repair and further promote healthy skin.

There are many lasers available on the market, but LaseMD is revolutionary in optimal skin regeneration for two reasons. The downtime is a faction of what patients had to deal with in the past for a full resurfacing – which means that you can be back to your normal routine in a day or two. Also – LaseMD is safe for all skin types and conditions with less heat produced compared to similar technologies on the market. With minimal discomfort, there is no need for anaesthetic making it a fast and extremely affordable treatment.
